Sometimes It Takes A Village To Flip A House

The world can be a lonely place.

But in the world of real estate investing, it doesn’t have to be. What if we told you that there was a place you could go to get sound advice and emotional support from like minded individuals? And what if we also mentioned that this place was also a bastion of networking opportunities?

Piqued your curiosity?

It’s your local REIA chapter! Not sure what REIA even stands for? It’s the Real Estate Investors Association, and it’s a national organization with chapters all over the U.S. They have made it their mission to serve the interests of the real estate investment industry by promoting education, networking, and legislative action by supporting individual chapters across the nation.

Given the strength of the house flipping market in the DelMarVa area, it should come as no surprise that there are several chapters that have taken hold:

MAREIA is the Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Investors Association and has its roots in the Baltimore region. With monthly meetings every third Wednesday and special seminars sprinkled throughout the year, it’s a great place to go to learn the ins and outs of real estate investing and make some valuable connections while you’re at it. Not sure you’ll fit in? They have targeted meetings for specific groups such as WINGS (Women Investors Network and Group Support) and their Millennials Discussion group designed specifically for the younger crowd.

TRACTION is a local REIA that provides training, networking, and resources for real estate investors of all levels in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. They offer real estate investor group club meetings and training events and more at their Tysons Corner headquarters. Although some of their courses seem costly; they may be worth a look especially for the newbie flipper.

There are also lots of real estate investing groups and meetups in the area that aren’t affiliated with the National REIA. The best way to find these is to ask around or just do a simple Google search. You never know what you’ll find!

In fact, your very own Navigator Private Capital sponsors a monthly meetup (along with Press Go Management) called Real Estate Topic Tuesday at Union Jack’s in Annapolis. So mark your calendar for the second Tuesday of each month for practical advice and strategic networking. Our next meetup will be on May 8th from 6:00 until 8:30PM.
